What Is Fused Glass?

Fused glass is a fun & approachable form of glass art where pieces of glass are stacked on top of

each other, & then melted together in a kiln. The heat softens the glass until it fuses into one smooth,

solid piece.  You don’t need to use any lead, solder, or precise assembly like with stained glass.

One of the best things about fused glass is how simple & forgiving it is. You can cut the glass if you want

detailed designs—but you don’t have to. Many beautiful pieces are made just by arranging pre-cut shapes, stringers, or even crushed glass (called frit). That means anyone, from kids to adults,

can enjoy working with fused glass, even on their first try.

It’s a great choice for beginners & artists of all ages because it’s more about creativity & color than precision. Whether you want to make a thoughtful gift or just have fun with the process,

fused glass makes it easy to get beautiful results.

What Is Stained Glass?

Stained glass is made by cutting pieces of colored glass & joining them together with thin strips of metal, usually copper foil or lead. The pieces are arranged like a puzzle to make a picture or pattern,

then soldered to hold everything in place.

It takes more time & precision than fused glass, but the results are beautiful & full of character.

Stained glass is what you often see in windows, lamps, & hanging art—it lets light shine through

the colors and creates a glowing effect.
